Final Review Blog

If you are looking to review as you are studying for the final feel free to use this space to post questions or thoughts to get ready for the exam . Checking back once a day would be a great idea as you can answer questions from others or get new ideas about how to link concepts from the course. Asking questions based on the review sheet or answering other students' questions will count for a blog post (1 max). Good luck.

    1. What I had for that was what we had discussed in the prezi. He posted the prezis up, and it is in the first one titled "The Social and Historical Construction of Race and Ethnicity". I think that it is determined using the poverty guidelines. It depends upon how many people are in a family or household and the income that is made by that family. That number is compared to the poverty guidelines, which will either state that the family is impoverished or not, and if they are they will become a part of that poverty rate.

    2. Hi Daniel,

I would really recommend that you look over Kochar, etl. article " Wealth Gap Rise to Record Highs Between Whites, Blacks, Hispanics: Twenty-to-One" . In the article the analyze the economic gap not only between races but also between the different social classes. It breaks down minorities while evaluating their estimated net worth. The research is mostly based off of Pew Research. Highly recommend that you look over it.

    3. Hey Daniel,
I think that it would also be good to note that our current poverty measure was established in the 1960s and is now believed to be flawed. It was based on research indicating that families spent about one-third of their incomes on food – the official poverty level was set by multiplying food costs by three.
